No.  A pre-existing condition will not prevent you from getting health insurance. In fact, all plans will cover pre-existing conditions.

To qualify for financial assistance, you must:

  • Apply for your health insurance through the marketplace
  • Meet the income requirements based on your household size
  • Not already have access to affordable qualified health coverage such as job insurance, Tricare or Medicaid

You may lose coverage for one of the following reasons:

  • If you did not pay your monthly premiums (if applicable)
  • If you did not respond to requests for documents to verify certain information related to immigration status or income.
  • If you were found eligible for Medicaid and subsequently enrolled for it.

You will receive a tax information 1095 A from if you or a household member received advanced premium tax credit (APTC) to help pay for your health coverage acquired through the marketplace. If, however, the estimated income stated on your application is less that your actual income earned for the plan year, you may owe part or all the premium tax credit. On the other hand, if your gross income at the end of the plan year is more than your projected amount, you may get more premium tax credit. It is always advised to speak with an expert before submitting your application.
